3rd September 2010
Having already won the Championship, Presidents Singles and Rose Bowl Pairs, so far this year, Michael Stevenson is having a brilliant season of bowls. At time of writing he is due to play no less than four more finals at Gourock Park, which makes it 7 in total, before the season comes to a close later this month.
He starts tonight with the 2 Bowl Singles, then he will be involved in the 2 Bowl Pairs, Mixed Pairs and Triples. Michael has also tasted success in the Wood Shield, the SBA District Pairs and an Open Triples at Lady Alice. So whatever happens in these up and coming games, 2010 is one in which he will remember for a long time.
His Seven GP Finals in one year is a fantastic achievement and I wonder if that's ever been done before?
Michael's opponent tonight is John Kane and tonight also will see the Final of the Non-Prize Winners being played. Alan Jack will play Alex Cunningham and both of these games should be good to watch.
RBA Top Ten Final
This will take place at Gourock BC on Sunday 5th.
Paisley Victoria versus Kilbarchan. The action begins at 2PM.
4th September 2010
Michael Stevenson swept aside the challenge of John Kane to win last night's 2 Bowl Singles Final by 21 shots to 7, to claim his third singles title of the year at Gourock Park. Michael was in impressive form throughout and was first to settle into his stride on the fast running green. He raced into an 8 nil lead after six ends before John got on the card with a single at the next.Michael increased his lead to 9 v 1 at the next, but lost a double after that to make the score after nine ends, 9 v 3.
From this point onwards, Michael was always in command and by end number twenty one the scoreboard read 20 v 6 and almost game over! John Kane, who had struggled to master the speed of the green, scored a single at the next to make it 20 v 7 but there was to be no comeback as Michael took the next to win the 2010 Two Bowl Singles.
Also played last night at the club, was the Final of the Non-Prizewinner Singles between Alex Cunningham and Alan Jack and this was a highly competitive match to watch. Alan stormed into the lead early doors and by end number six had a 9 shots to 1 advantage over his opponent. Alex fought back briefly, taking a single and a double over the next few ends, but very soon found himself facing an uphill battle as Alan kept his healthy lead and at the twelve end the score read 12 v 5 to Alan.
Alex was not for giving up and proved his by hauling himself back into the game, taking a treble in end number thirteen and then a full house at the next, which brought the score to level pegging at 12 all. Alan regained the lead at the next with a single and followed this up with another two singles and a double to lead 17 v 12 after eighteen ends.
Alex fought back again and by end number twenty two, had reduced the deficit to just two shots at 17 v 15. The next few ends saw both players record shots and by end number twenty five the score read 19 v 18 in Alan's favour.
The game was finally decided at the next when Alex Cunningham scored an excellent three shots to take the game 21 v 19.

The RBA Top Ten was won by Paisley Victoria on Sunday with a 6 v 2 victory over Kilbarchan. Well done to them.
The Two Bowl Pairs at Gourock Park was won by Kenny McKinlay and Ian Brown with a victory over John McFetrich and Michael Stevenson on Monday evening at Gourock Park.
Also on Monday, the last Monday Wapinschaw of the season took place. Now in its third year, this 'open' wappy was once again won by Terry Duffy, although this time he had to be content with sharing first place with Alex Cunningham. Christine Nettleton took 3rd place, the first time a Lady had finished in the top three, so a very well done to her.
After the last game the players enjoyed a fine spread of homemade soup, sandwiches and homebaking, the speeches were made and the prizes presented in the company of the Wapinshcaw's Sponsor, Stevie, of Stevies Store Bute Street, who was joined by his Wife, Gurwinder and Daughter, Shurnjeet.
